Greetings Maria Nelson,

The Innovation Technology PROJECT WDH-2594, is a new project I am delighted to present to the U.S. Army Research Institute for your funding consideration.


This product, when manufactured would be particularly beneficial to individuals with limited movement and may offer increased independence and better quality of life. More and more, health care is taught as a way of life, rather than as a crisis to be dealt with.


Background

For the next 20 years, 10,000 individuals will turn 65 every day. By 2030, the percentage of the U.S population over the former retirement age will have grown from 13 percent to at least 18 percent. Improved medical care, as well as healthier habits, are helping more people live longer.


PROJECT WDH-2594 is a utility patent device under research and development, to provide a solution of the problem that less dexterous children, aged people, arthritic and otherwise handicapped people, can effectively and independently perform self-grooming.


This handheld interactive, self-actuating viewing device eliminates the need for bending or remaining in a strained position when grooming lower extremities.


Personal grooming is something that applies to everyone, young or old, able or disabled. However, some personal grooming tasks are sometimes more difficult for some rather than others. Usually, when attempting to groom the lower extremities of the foot, it mostly requires an individual to maneuver the body in strained positions for prolonged times. 


PROJECT WDH-2594 is a handheld controller with a view screen/camera, providing an un-contorted and relaxed position when grooming the foot.


Note: The handheld controller and lower grooming enclosure, are currently in development.
